How to Practice Effectively…For Just About Anything
What does practice actually do to make us better at things? Within our careers there are so many skills we need to learn, and mastering any skill takes practice, so it is fair to say that learning to practise effectively is an essential life skill. Learning to practise effectively depends on self-discipline, a skill in itself that is needed for success in anything in life, regardless of whether the skill being practised is physical or mental. If you are willing to put in the work, you will most likely succeed in what you are doing. This applies as much to public speaking and presenting as it does to playing the violin or running the 200m hurdles.
In this delightful TED-Ed video, Annie Bosler and Don Greene explain how practice affects the inner workings of our brains and how, if effective practice is the key, we can get the most out of our time. Be inspired by this beautifully simple explanation of why it really is worth taking the time to master your desired skill.
